Heading for a resounding victory as we speak.
BTW, it's not just the Republican retards. Currenty vote tally:
Republicans -- 170 / 10 yes/no
Democrats -- 90/54

People here need to realize that people on both sides of the aisle are very much in favor of this thing passing...just partisan quibbling that was holding it up.

2p2ers need to realize that we're a tiny, tiny minority with most of the country united against us.

Of the people who feel very strongly about this bill, and would vote out any Congressmen who disagree, I bet at least 2:1 are against. The problem is NOBODY CARES THAT THIS BILL EXISTS. And half of the people that do know about it are living in dreamland, and are willfully ignorant about its implications. This is so frustrating.

The Congressmen don't understand how many people will be horrified by this bill once if it becomes law. They think most of the public is meh and slightly for it.

Are there many examples of past legislation that easily passed in the house but failed or died in the Senate?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes - Normally on more controvertial issues though

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually, haven't previous bans on online gambling passed the house and failed in the senate?

[/ QUOTE ]

Correct - It still happens with measures that aren't so controvertial as well, but it has not failed in the Senate on an up/down vote (nor do I think it would). It has just died in committee where no action was taken....that is what we must hope (strike hope, insert work)for now.

The constitutionality of this bill will be challenged within 24 hours of its passage in the Senate if it gets that far.

If you took a vote of the general population, we wouldn't have a prayer, and it's not even close.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is technically true, but most people don't give it much thought and certainly won't remember it on election day.

I don't think even if it passes the Senate it will go through.

There should be a challenge in the courts on right to privacy. This is a blaring example of gov't intrusion and should be challenged.

Could be a 2-3 year battle
