What about Negreanu's read on Evelyn holding a pair of 4's with the diamonds?

[/ QUOTE ]

Great read by Daniel, but I thought it was a bad fold by Ng. With a decent amount of money in the pot, I think I gamble with a pair and a flush draw. If she can put Daniel on only a jack (which he had), she has enough outs to take the chance. When Daniel virtually called her hand, that might have unnerved her. If Daniel wasn't lying after doing his rabbit hunting, she would have hit two pair to win the hand, and take a huge chip lead and probably have won the match.

Evelyn Ng = Pro?? Daniel was so condescending to her...like he was explaining to a child how many outs she had. She acted like some kind of celebrity player or something. I know how rhetorical this is but, how did she ever get to represent any poker site with her poker reasoning skills?
Classic Daniel during the interview... she played great except for a "few" hands. Gabe Kaplan's "Sonny and Cher of Canada" line was funny.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes I agree for someone who plays high limit cash games (100/200?) she seemed like a noob still taking lessons. Daniel also destroyed her psychologically looking at the upcoming cards, "Oh you would've won." I'm not sure if this was part of Daniel's pscyhological warfare since he is very good at this. I doubt it would be since they are good friends, but honestly, Evelyn looked outclassed and lost.

To be fair, pretty much anyone in the world looks outclassed compared to DN.

I generally agree with this, but NBC makes it look like Evelyn made an easy fold. ICK!

Unless Evelyn has a very good read that Daniel is extremely strong, eg a flopped a set, then this isn't a good laydown. She appeared to very easily lay down headsup a hand where she had 14 outs.

What's the point of inviting Tony G and Mike Caro to this thing and then not showing their match? Someone at NBC needs their head examined.

[/ QUOTE ]

But then we would have missed JAMES WOODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously does this guy pay NBC or something?

Oh- something that I was wondering from this broadcast. How is NBC allowed to show footage from the WSOP shot by ESPN, a company owned by ABC??

Lots of reasons, actually. I'll list a couple for you to consider.

- the show is one hour long
- they didn't play any "interesting" hands
- there might have been a bad camera angle for the only good hand
- it's possible one of the players covered his hole cards at a key moment.

All of these are possibilities.

It's been said over and over again on these forums, but you need to remember that this is a television show.

There are a lot of people that love seeing James Woods play. And, for the record, he nearly beat Johnny Chan last yr and was on the better side of a race and lost this yr to Fischman.

Is he a top pro? No, of course not. But he makes for good TV. Obviously, if this show was made for 2+2, he wouldn't be there.

aside from that scene with sheiky the show was somewhat boring

I agree. Maybe my memory is faulty, but it seemed they concentrated more on the feature match last year. We got some great extended heads-up play. Now they show one hand here, go to another hand over there, then come back to the feature table. With the field cut in half, and the broadcast time doubling, hopefully they will give us a lot more hands per match.

[/ QUOTE ]

The 2 hour shows are great. You'll see lots of action, particularly from the featured table. Those start this weekend.

The Negreanu-Raymer match this weekend is awesome, and you see a lot of it.

As a side note, it will be interesting to see if people are critical of Raymer after they see the show. I am not saying he's not a great player - of couese he is. There are some interesting hands, to say the least.
