IMO, TDS is overtaken by any show on TV, even Simple Life, and the Soup.

I would respect the Daily Show much more if they changed the title to "George Bush + America sucks", because at least they would be straightforward.

you realize that their only job is to make a mockery of politics and politics are absouletely dominated by republicans right now. not to mention that our country makes terrible decisions daily. im pretty sure there is more to it than them hating republicans. saying that the simple life beats it really invalidates your viewpoint further.

TCR is funny, but TDS is just fantastic. The way Stewart does the news is really just unparalleled.

Jon Stewart grinding his ax against bush gets old. The Daily Show used to be alot funnier when they made fun of non-political stuff as well.

but I also think that the Daily show is in decline.

[/ QUOTE ]

the daily show has been in decline since jon stewart took over as host

[/ QUOTE ]
How much influence does Stewart have over the content? Does he write all the material that he does on the show or do they have a team of writers that has stayed the same through multiple hosts?

Bush is probably the easiest Presidential target since Richard Nixon. Do you seriously expect him to avoid this? The "Bush is Stupid" jokes almost write themselves at this point.

Of course he doesn't. People like him only notice when their guy gets blasted. JS regularly blasts liberals and rightfully so. When the power shifts, so will the focus.

Colbert is now the better show.

It wasnt for the first 2 weeks of its run though.

Also, there are a very large number of running gags that many wouldnt get if they didnt watch quite regularily.

Plus, no one seemed to mind the two years of Clinton BJ jokes that basically lasted through the first year of Bush.

And no Clinton was a dream for comic relief as was Reagan. Bush is just easy to criticize. Not as easy to come up with funny jokes.

You're wrong. I used to love the show. Then it changed. Go back and watch some shows from ca. 2000 and compare them to now. If you don't realize it is a Bush-bashing machine, then you need to step back and re-evaluate. The show was much better years ago when it didn't take itself so seriously.

I [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] both shows, that is all.

I do agree that the Daily Show suffered from the loss of Colbert though.
