bump. Still having problems with this POS machine. AVOID ALIENWARE!

- when I press the startup, nothing happens. I now have to reseat my harddrive

-cd drive isn't responding at all to disks or opening.

It's really easy to put together a machine yourself, buying whatever parts you want, and is cheaper as well.

if you have a monitor and an OS to use it can be a little cheaper, if you don't it is usually more expensive to build your own.

Yeah but who doesn't have a monitor and an operating system already? Unless you're upgrading from a 15" or 17" CRT monitor with Windows 98 running, but I'm sure a lot here aren't.

AMD has been better than Intel for a long time. Custom builds FTW, Alienware is overpriced, Dell (computers) are just plain bad (I like their monitors).

You don't even need to know how to put the parts together; most sites will do it for you.

when u say "custom build," do you mean going to a site like ibuypower or do you mean buying separate parts like at newegg?

im about to spend $$ and not sure which is the better route.

While we're at it. NEVER buy Acer Laptops. Even the ferrari editions. They're horrendous and break down every 5 minutes.

FYI.. Alienware is owned by Dell. Not pwnd, but literally, they bought the company. Happened months ago.
