Re: Putting all your chips at risk, how small of an edge?
[ QUOTE ]
As I have said, calling a probably coinflip with a significant overlay is a no brainer. The OP was talking about a situation where you are essentially getting 1:1 on your money and you are in a known 50/50 situation. If you win, you DU, if you lose, you go home. And ty, in order to get first you have to survive, my friend. [/ QUOTE ] You are almost never 1:1 (unless there is a shorty allin involved, then you could be 1:1 on the side pot). OP didn't really say it was 1:1 odds in his post. Unless, i'm missing something. |

You must be willing to die, but that doesn't mean you you walk in front of a bus.

Re: Putting all your chips at risk, how small of an edge?
Foucault, my point was a simple one.
Coinflips with FE and/or significant overlay = tasty. Coinflips with no FE or signifcant overlay = nasty. Obviously, there are a multitude of important contextual variables going on in any given hand that can lead to a variety of decisions, but this concept is central to my line of thinking in tournament play. |

all men die. not every man truly saves his dog from an oncoming bus.

Re: Putting all your chips at risk, how small of an edge?
So, if I understand you all correctly, if you bought into a tournament and the director gave you the option to flip a coin, with a win meaning you get a second stack (i.e., double up) and a loss meaning you are out and forfeit your buyin, most of you would take that deal?
