Re: Dennis Kucinch
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] it sure seems to me that the media and such are much more tolerant of Democrats that make these changes than Republicans. [/ QUOTE ] Strom Thurmond, Jeff Sessions, and you would be able to add Trent Lott to that list if he hadn't been called out for his racist remarks at Strom Thurmonds retirement party a few years back. Conservative democrat Zell Miller didn't take much flack either. [/ QUOTE ] Strom Thurmond was excoriated for his prior stances as a Democrat. Trent Lott was removed from his position as the leader of the Republicans in the Senate for endorsing Strom Thurmond's past stances at a private function toasting Thurmond on his retirement (if memory serves) for crying out loud. Totally ridiculous. I had Lott in mind when I made the statement. I remember someone on this forum specifically stating that it was good and to see Lott in a leadership position making a comeback and then having other posters blast him because of Thurmonds past voting record and such. Kucinich was elected by, supported by, and was the bigots mouthpiece in Cleveland when he entered the political arena many moons ago. Cleveland is a Democratic stronghold and it's not hard to understand why Kucinich gets elected to Congress from there. Now that he's seeking national office he's read the tea leaves and he sees where he can carve out his political niche. He's nothing more than an opportunist which can be said about many politicians. He probably gets a boatload of money directed to him from far left orgs for the stances he takes. |
