Re: Bonds won\'t return to Giants
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Devil Rays FTW! [/ QUOTE ] If Drays got him... dare I say playoff contenders? [/ QUOTE ] I think the more fun question is, How many D-Rays are less valuable defensively than he would be in LF? :/ [/ QUOTE ] This question doesn't really make any sense... Bonds is very underrated currently defensively, he's not as huge a liability as people might think. Also, the Drays outfield trio of Crawford Upton and Young is possibly the best defensive outfield in baseball. |

Re: Bonds won\'t return to Giants
ESPN chat or article the other day. Dont remember who it was chatting but it was an interesting thought.
An AL team with money coming off the books could sign Bonds to a one year deal to DH and A-rod long term and have a hell of a 3-4 next year. |

Re: Bonds won\'t return to Giants
The A's won't likely pick up Bonds.
They generally draft good players and develop them for 5 years, then see them leave to ridiculous amounts of monies. ex. Giambi, McGuire The book "Moneyball" explains all of this. Its extremely interesting as it explains how a team like Oakland with the second lowest payroll in the MLB can compete every year. |

Re: Bonds won\'t return to Giants
[ QUOTE ]
I figure that the only teams that would be interested in him would be AL teams. Minny will probably be clearing out a lot of space since they won't be able to resign players like Johan Santana. So, they might have some room for Bonds. I think Oakland and Seattle could make a move for him too. [/ QUOTE ] Santana is still under contract next year. They aren't going to trade Santana in order to free up room to sign Bonds. As much as I love Bonds, this would be a ridiculously stupid move and 180 degrees from the MO of the organization for the last 8 or 9 years. I mean, Ryan is gone, but I don't think running the team into the ground just to spite him is really a legit business model. |
