This may all have been a drama set up by the student who was tasered. Read this article:
Student has Web site featuring practical jokes, diatribe "And it turns out that it's not Andrew Meyer's first appearance on the Internet. He has a history of taping his own practical jokes, and several of those videos are featured on his own Web site. In 1 of them, he stands in a street with a sign that says, "Harry Dies," after the release of the latest Harry Potter book. In another, he acts like a drunk while trying to pick up a woman in a bar. The site also has what is called a "disorganized diatribe" attributed to Meyer. It criticizes the Iraq war, and the news media for not covering the conflict enough. And he lashes out at the American public for paying too much attention to celebrity news." |

This kid did not own the building or microphone and was not entitled to rant and rave for as long as he wanted. [/ QUOTE ] I didn't see anyone say that his time was up. did they tell him his time was up before he asked about skull and bones? |

[ QUOTE ]
the video i saw he asked john kerry a question, on microphone, which means he was being allowed to ask a question, and before j.k. can answer, police rush up and grab and push the student. [/ QUOTE ] You look at the video? "He's been talking for 2 hours ... I'm going to inform you, then I'm going to ask my question...I'm not finished yet, I have two more questions..." The guy didn't care about an answer. He asked several questions and was giving his own speech. Not saying that what the cops did was right, but at least admit that the guy was there to be disruptive. |

LOL i saw him standing in the middle of 13th avenue doing his Harry Potter thing, being a total jackass with some kid filming him. I'm glad he got tasered. The kid really is a douche. While waiting at the light there was a homeless man begging next to this kid. I rolled down the window to give him a granola bar (my GF carries some on her to give to the homeless) and this kid holding his dumbassed sign comes up and becomes completely obnoxious. He was saying stupid [censored] about the Harry Potter book and making fun of the homeless dude. It's too bad they just used tasers instead of beating him into submission. He deserved it. |

the video i saw he asked john kerry a question, on microphone, which means he was being allowed to ask a question, and before j.k. can answer, police rush up and grab and push the student. now it seems to me that is a clear case of assault by the police. now it may be true that he did resist arrest to some degree, but, it seems obvious that the police had no reason to arrest him, eg, false arrest. pretty sure he will get a pretty big civil judgement out of this. [/ QUOTE ] According to the long version: "I couldnt get to my camera in time to record his entrance, but this guy basically comes running in with 4 or 5 cops in tow and says he has been running around trying to get in to ask a question and the cops are going to arrest him for it. they almost do it then but Sen. Kerry says he will answer it. he then answers a previous question someone else asked (i cut that part out because it isnt important to this video) then the guy asks his questions and when he is done all hell breaks lose. to the cop haters: i have no doubt the cops were going exactly by the book, the problem isnt them, its the book! they were doing their job and looked just as confused as this kid (this isnt something that they deal with often)." So it doesn't sound like he waited his turn and said something the cops didn't like. It sounds like he barged into this place and grabbed the mike and the police just didn't want to make a scene at first. |

So they chased him into the auditorium and let him ask a question. He then goes off and keeps talking, but what was wrong with that? It's not like he ran on stage and tried to attack John Kerry. He wasn't really a threat to anyone physically. If they wanted him gone, they had 6 cops there so you pick him up and throw him out. There's no need for the taser. If 6 cops can't handle that 1 guy then they shouldn't be cops.

[/ QUOTE ] I'm sure they could have handled him. However, it is a dangerous situation to try to remove a resisting individual for the individual, the cops, and any bystanders. |

Dangerous? They had him pinned to the ground! How dangerous is he at that point? You get his arms back, handcuff him and throw him out. I don't see how it's dangerous to anyone once he's pinned down, has handcuffs on him, and is being escorted out of the building by 6 cops. I'm not buying your explanation as an excuse to use the taser on him.
