Beckham has been underrated. He was dropped from the England team FFS. You can't be rated much lower than that. I agree with bigt2k4, in as much as due to him being overrated earlier in his career, as soon as he failed to reach inhumanly high standards people wrote him off as terrible - regardless of the fact that he's still an excellent player and a big merit to any team which contains him. I'm enjoying how well Juan Pablo Angel seems to be doing in the MLS, seeing as he never performed in the EPL. He scores about 15 goals a game now, right? Overall I'm pretty chuffed Beckham moved to MLS, because now I get to watch it on Channel 5. [/ QUOTE ] He is good. In fact he is still one of the best midfield players on the planet. But far too often the England team revolved around him, which was clearly detrimental to the team. Plus, Lennon is a better player on the right in a more general sense (not as good at crossing, obv, but better at holding the ball and making runs. Plus he isnt an aweful crosser by any means). We need to concentrate on future stars, and on the wings Lennon and Downing are where its at - though im biased for Downing as a Boro fan, Joe Cole has proven himself on the left but he is not a left footer and thats what we need to provide width. Fwiw, Beckham isnt nearly as overrated as Lampard, but that goes without saying.

Lol Beckham underrated? wtf. He hasn't had a particularly good game for England since like Greece, which was what 5 years ago now? If any of you people had actaully watched any of the England games in the recent World Cup or Euro competitions you would realise he is very unremarkable.

If he was right footed no one would think twice about putting him in the england team. Barry should be in the team before him as well as cole. Beckham is still good but to call him one of the best on the planet is a joke, i could name a ton of midfielders people would take ahead of him without a doubt. He has as good as retired by going to MLS, after being dropped by McLaren he didn't think he was getting back in the team so decided to cash in, he turned down both AC and Inter as well as numerous other teams no doubt. I dont think the travelling will be a major problem, but playing in a league where the standard of play is as poor as it is will effect him. As for lampard being overrated that pretty much shows you dont have a clue, he constantly performs at a high level, does a ton of work for the team and scores as many or more than any midfielder in the world each season.
