i would pick pujols because he could officially play SS but just switch spots with 3B every game.

[ QUOTE ]
If they need to, they just make Gold Glover Scott Rolen play 1-2 steps to his left or back a couple steps and hope he can put more on his throws from 3rd if need-be, to help compensate for Pujols' lack of range. [/ QUOTE ] Wait...I signed Rolen too? This is getting better by the minute. |

Re: Would you rather play Omar Vizquel or Albert Pujols at shortstop?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] If you take Mo Vaughn and give him Pujols/Arod hitting skills this would be a much more interesting question. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, this was more or less my intention. I have apparently underrated Pujols's fielding quite a bit. [/ QUOTE ] I could be wrong, but I think what you're trying to get at is.... Everyone picks Pujols. This then shows that players who become superstars just because they're good "for their position" are overvalued. Examples of these types of players would be Cal Ripken, Craig Biggio, Mike Piazza, etc. [/ QUOTE ] Someone with no fielding skill would bleed runs at SS, destroy your pitchers, and probably get himself hurt. |

[ QUOTE ]
He'd likely struggle at SS, but it's not like putting Manny Ramirez there. [/ QUOTE ] Hey, cmon now. Manny has the infielders side arm throw down pat. |

Re: Would you rather play Omar Vizquel or Albert Pujols at shortstop?
I have no idea how many runs below replacement he would be, but I'm guessing it would more than offset anything he contributed with the bat.

But if he can't even play a really poor first base... He'd probably be worse than an avg high school kid or something. Its gotta be horrific. |

Re: Would you rather play Omar Vizquel or Albert Pujols at shortstop?
i think the people picking pujols are seriously underestimating how much he would cost your team in the field (assuming we're talking about vizquel in his prime, not this year, as well)
