Re: Blog entry for Sunday Million Win
Hey mlagoo, I'm a lurker here, but couldn't resist writing. Enjoyed your blog entry, and am basically a tourney grinder such as you described (winning player, but no huge wins save two $3000+ wins).
The main thing I would change about the entry is I would omit mention of your backer. The target audience for this entry seems to be MTT grinders, and I imagine the vast majority of them aren't staked. So to better connect with your audience, I think I would omit that. Further, when I started reading and read about your staker, it distracted me from some of the blog, as I was thinking "How did he get staked? What percent did he earn from the tourney? etc. etc." None of that is needed for the story, of course. The easiest way to ensure this didn't happen is to simply use 'friend' instead of backer early in the blog. Anyway, a small point. Enjoyed your blog. Congrats. |

PL,
you're probably right. i just didn't want to be disingenuous. but yeah, it does kind of leave the reader to wonder "so what'd he get, like 50k?" so maybe i will omit it, just because i think omitting it is better than airing out exactly how much gobbo and i each made on the blog. |

Re: Blog entry for Sunday Million Win
Good read.
I remember meeting you a couple days after you won and you were really level headed. I know if I won that tournament I would probably be smacking people around with wads of $100s. Anyways, its always nice to meet someone who has had his lucky break in poker. Coming back from Vegas and meeting a lot of 2p2ers made me realize how profitable poker still is. You just have to put in the effort to get there. I still think back to the meeting out on the Bellagio patio. 15 people with an average age of 21-22. I'm pretty sure I had made the least amount of money out of everyone out there and I've made well over 50k this year playing a game. It's really surreal if you look back on these small things. Not all my friends are 21 yet, but I don't think any of them will be in Vegas 1 hour before their birthday to spend the next 10 days there playing in the biggest poker events the world has to offer. Sorry to derail your thread a little bit, just felt like a good place to post something random. "Couldn't of happened to a nicer guy." - Mike |
