i like fries with ranch...so whether i like a place's fries has a lot to do with how good their ranch dressing is.

tough call, but it's either islands or this local place no one will care about.

hah, it's hard for me to comment being Canadian and all. I haven't been to half the places listed...and seeing as how McDonalds is somehow winning, I can only conclude that our fries must taste different??

McDonald's fries have been gross ever since the switch from animal fat to veggie fat. Arby's curly fries >>> anything else on that list.

McDonalds has better fries than resturants like Chili's, Applebees, etc, which is confusing.

Like guids was touching on earlier, Hot Doug's in Chicago serves fries cooked in duck fat every weekend. Soooooooooooooooooooo good.

My guess would be that it has to do with them being skinnier so that an equal size portion of McD's absorbs way more oil then does applebees. Crispier this way then too.

I don't quite understand it, but somehow the thick fries have been determined to be higher class. I wouldn't be surprised if a place like applebees started serving better fries they'd do quite well.
