Re: Going to Vegas, should I buy a money belt?
[ QUOTE ]
How come no one has given the correct answer: Get a safety deposit box at the casino you will be frequenting. [/ QUOTE ] I dunno if you need that much for $1500 - if you are staying where you are gambling, just use the hotel room safe. |

Re: Going to Vegas, should I buy a money belt?
[ QUOTE ]
1500 is kind of a lot of money for me hopefully I will have more by the end of my trip. [/ QUOTE ] Why is everyone ignoring this in their efforts to mock him? If his poker bankroll is $7500 and he brings $1500 with him, that is 20% of his money. If he runs good and doubles it, then he's walking around with 33% of his bankroll. Why shouldn't you take some effort to protect it? It's not like he's asking if he should rent an armoured car or something. |

Re: Going to Vegas, should I buy a money belt?
If you have to go to a message board for ideas on how to protect your money, you really shouldn't be carrying around any substantial amount of money in the first place.
The reason for the mocking is because his post is pointless. At least once a month we get some form of this post. "I'm going to Vegas next week with $1000... what should I do?!?!?!" People need to use some common sense. |

Re: Going to Vegas, should I buy a money belt?
Serious answer to your question
If carrying that much cash will make you uncomfortable, then by all means get a money belt, decoy wallet, etc. You probably won't need it, but will be beating yourself up forever if you do get pick pocketed. Personally, I wouldn't bother, but it's really all a matter of personal comfort. |

Re: Going to Vegas, should I buy a money belt?
I was really just wondering how safe it is to walk around on the strip with large sums of cash. Also $1500 is more than I paid for my computer last summer, which I consider to be a major purchase.
Anyway thanks for the responses. I got some good laughs and some good insight. |

Re: Going to Vegas, should I buy a money belt?
seriously though, id secure it in my front pocket so you feel totally safe or get a money belt.
me, i just carry that amount in my front pocket. if youre not comfortable, go the extra step. and no matter what people are telling you there are plenty of pick pocketers on the strip. thats true about any tourist area. bwana |

Re: Going to Vegas, should I buy a money belt?
Real advice: Split it up into front pockets, interior zippered jacket pockets, or a money belt if that makes you feel better. Money belts are still queer.
I had a money belt while in Europe and just left it in my backpack. Thing was a hassle. Just tie it to a Nalgene or something else in backpack and bury it in the bottom. Kinda like just a rubber band and a front pocket. |
