No offense but you sound extremely annoying. Most dealers are perfectly capable of running a game without your help.

I take it that you don't play at Foxwoods much.

I do most of these things only when necessary. Howard probably knows this, but since I started playing 20/40, instead of 8/16, a lot of this helping in me as stopped, as players do a better job.

I always push bets out if someone is placing them too close and a small person is in the box. This is usually only necessary for the 2/3 and 7/8 seats. That is the main reason I enjoy the 5 seat, I don't have to push my bets or anyone elses up too far. I do this with an open palm and gently push them closer, but never into the pot, I let the dealer do that. I also do similar with mucked hands preflop.

Also, since there is someone always eating at the table, I am the one that reminds them it is their blind or their turn, but other than that or if someone is simply not paying attention, nothing is really necessary.

I also help the dealer get the sidepot amount correct by stating the number of chips in it, if they are having a problem.

Usually the case of the bets being put in short and a dealer having to reach, it hurts their backs, and a few of the female dealers will get bitchy, and it will turn into a mini feud between the dealer and that player, and I try to avoid that.

Wow I don't get all the people who are annoyed. The only one on the list I do personally is remind people it's their action if they are talking to the waitress. But I sure am appreciative of people who do most of the rest because they make me $$$.

[ QUOTE ]

- Call hands at showdown, especially in Omaha
- Remind people to put their blinds or antes out
- Push in other people's bets if the dealer is having a hard time reaching (I try to show my hands to prove I'm not stealing from the pot)

[/ QUOTE ]

Calling the hands would be annoying if the dealer is good. If the dealer is bad, I have no problem with it. Same thing with the reminders.

[ QUOTE ]

- Tell people its their action if it looks like they didn't notice, although I imagine sometimes they're just thinking. I'll look at them and say "action" or do a "palm up point" like a dealer would.

[/ QUOTE ]

If it's a limit game, these people either (a) really don't know it's their action, in which case I don't want to wait (b) Play too slow, which is annoying

[ QUOTE ]

- Feed $1 chips into the pot so the dealer doesn't have to make change to take the rake.

[/ QUOTE ]

As a player I couldn't care less.

[ QUOTE ]

I try to be gentle about it, usually a barely audible "blinds" or "action", but I can see how this might get on people's nerves. I don't recall anyone ever giving me crap about it, but how bad is this?

[/ QUOTE ]

Anybody who is missing their action deserves what they get. The reminder makes me $$$ and also keeps the game moving so I won't get bored. So, thanks.

If I understand this correctly, e.g. if I'm in the 2 seat and the 3 seat makes it difficult for the dealer to reach his bet, I can push his bet forward (as a help to the dealer, and I'm not in the hand)? I'm not sure I've ever seen this done for this type of scenario. Interesting.

[/ QUOTE ]

Now that I think about it, this is likely very dealer-dependant. On occasion when I play, I'll only push them out after all betting is complete and make sure the dealer sees me doing it and my hands are very obviously not taking chips. But yeah, if I'm moving my hands over to collect bets, if someone throws in a bet that's too far away, I appreciate it. Moreso if it's for someone who seems to deliberately set them far away because of his/her tiny little spec of self-esteem. That little bit of subtle "yeah, we see you being like this, and we're not even bothering to comment on it because it's so ridiculously stupid, so we'll treat you like a child and move your chips for you" nudge is satisfying.
