Re: Should God Make Sense?
[ QUOTE ]
1) How do you know all of these details about the Creator's character? 2) How do you know you aren't the one being deceived? [/ QUOTE ] 1) His Word. Also, Romans 1 says everyone knows something about God through nature because God makes it evident to them - to such a degree that they are without excuse. 2) We are finite and so there is always a theoretical possibility that what we think is true isn't. I know Who I have believed but I can't demonstrate it objectively with 100% certainty - that's why we are saved by faith, by trusting in God, in His Word, in His character. |

Why wouldn't he deceive you? 2) trusting in his character! what can that possibly mean when you believe he is good whatever his character? chez |

Re: Should God Make Sense?
[ QUOTE ]
1) his word cannot help you unless you already believe he wouldn't deceive you. Why wouldn't he deceive you? [/ QUOTE ] What communication could God possibly make that wouldn't be subject to this objection? Your argument basically reduces to "I am equal to any possible god". |

[ QUOTE ] 1) his word cannot help you unless you already believe he wouldn't deceive you. Why wouldn't he deceive you? [/ QUOTE ] What communication could God possibly make that wouldn't be subject to this objection? [/ QUOTE ] None whatsoever, rationally any communication would have this problem. If he wants rational people to understand what we should do then he would have to make it part of us. build in a sense of what's right and wrong. chez |

[/ QUOTE ] What communication could God possibly make that wouldn't be subject to this objection? Your argument basically reduces to "I am equal to any possible god". [/ QUOTE ] Exactly. People who endlessly question God... Think that they are being clever <yawn> 1,000,000 times... But, very transparently, are actually REFUSING to SUBMIT. You, a powerless slave, are refusing to submit to the King. The Atheist position at least has some logic... Whereas the "I want God on my terms" position is completely illogical. |
