I totally forgot about Elysian. That place is awesome, as is the Pyramid brewery.

If you like beer, there is no better city than Seattle.

emon87,

No, CaseS87 lives here too, he's a BBVer. peterchi, as well, forgot about him.

This is a good point. Micro-brews basically started here. The beer is fabulous, you are never stuck drinking Budweiser.

I live in Kitsap County, which is across the Puget Sound from Seattle. Kitsap has alot more rural feel (lower real estate prices, less traffic, etc) while still having easy access to the city for Mariners games, nightlife, etc. It's just an hour ferry ride or hour drive away. Check out the towns of Silverdale, Gig Harbor, Poulsbo, Bainbridge and Bremerton if you're interested in that.

All,

Thanks for the info, sounds like it's got a lot of positives. The place I'm considering is in Bothell, just north of the city. We'll see how the job talks go and take it from there!

regards,
T

I've been staying in Bothell for the past few months. If you can afford the slightly higher cost of living, I'd recommend going an extra 5 to 10 minutes north and check out Mill Creek. A little more in rent/mortgage, but very worth it.

Where will your job be? Some Seattle traffic can be really bad, even if it's not quite up there with LA. I'm actually not familiar with how Bothell and wherever you're going for work would fit in with the masses of people going between Everett and Seattle because of Boeing, but look into it. You might not be as close to your workplace as you think you are.

It's a hell of a lot better than Texas. Ask New001 - he lived in Seattle until he relocated to Tomball, TX. Pretty sure he hates it.

Living in Houston proper has made things much better.

Seattle is awesome. Yeah it rains, but summer is beautiful. The people at baseball games are pussies, Mariners fans kinda suck for that if you're into sports. Make sure you go out every once in a while and check out some of the great scenery. Mt. Rainier, Olympic Peninsula, etc.

Traffic sucks. I used to have an evening commute twice a week that could take 2.5 hours some days for like 15-20 miles of driving. Ugh.

Actually I wasn't too clear: the job is headquartered in Bothell.
