If you can't laugh at the scene with the hitchhiker and the 8-minute/7-minute abs bit I'd say there's something wrong with you. I still use the "Step into my office, 'cause you're [censored] fired" line all the time.
As for the rest of the movie, I remember finding it hilarious but I was mid-teens so jokes like cum in the hair cracked me up. Now I suspect I wouldn't find it nearly as funny. |

Anyone who doesn't laugh at this movie don't have a pulse. What is wrong with you people?

I thought they were arhictects' blueprints, not maps of Nepal.
I like Dillon as an actor, but not as a comic. Imagine, if you will, what, say, Jack Black could have done with that role. I prefer a funny person for a funny person role. Dillon ain't it. |

Dillon's delivery, for me, sucked. He's just not a comic actor. And I'm a fan of his.

I really enjoyed this movie the first time around.
But you'd have to pay me to watch it again - the bits just don't have any lasting humor, IMO. When you compare it to a true 'comedy classic', it just doesn't stack up |

To answer the original question posed in the OP, I think it might be because you are 54 andyfox. If you could please give us some examples of old movies you think are really funny maybe we could get to the heart of this.

I could see how some of the stuff might not hold up if you've seen it a few times (i.e., this is the exact type of movie I really wouldn't want to own, but would rather see on TV once every few years). But seeing this with a large crowd in the theater that summer was a very enjoyable time, lots of excellent lines.
