Sorry for the hijack...but could any of y'all throw out a couple restaurant recommendations using the same guidelines? We're looking for something in the $30 - $40pp price range.

Check out the Restaurants in Vegas thread.

Generally, Strip restaurants have grown expensive. Even moderate places are going to hit that $40 mark pretty quickly.

Buffets may be the way to go. The good ones are going to be more than $20, but the quality is there.

You may also consider churrascaria Brazilian - offering all you can eat grilled meats for around $40. Samba in the Mirage and Pampas in Planet Hollywood (see LV Review-Journal review). Off strip there is Yolie's, same idea, but since it's off strip I am guessing it's cheaper.

If you dig Korean, Gin Seng next to the Riviera is cheap and tasty. Plus, it is open 24 hours, a good thing to know about when your crew wants something other than coffee shop fare at 2AM.

The Loft Prime Rib in the Orleans has prime rib for less than $20, and wines are reasonable, too. Nothing fancy, but the prime rib is good. Get a dining time, then head back downstairs and grab a dozen oysters at the bar of Big Al's while you wait.

Also off strip is Lotus of Siam for Thai food. It comes up often in 2+2 Vegas restaurant threads. I have not been but I really want to try it one of these trips.

I saw Rachel Ray hit up some cheapo off-strip restaurant in Vegas on her $40/day program or whatever it's called.
Maybe you can dig up the name of it on her website.

Senator Kevin said,
"You could easily meet a bunch of ppl at the hotel pool as well. If you're already staying at the pool, then you're good to go. "

Absolutely you can meet chicas at the pool.
But if you do this you may want to have some place to take them out that night so again, Harrah's or NYNY or some other place might be the way to go here if you're on a budget but want to go out after the sun goes down.

Just meeting the girls at the pool in the afternoon is not enough unless you plan on just bonking them at 6 or 7pm up in your room and then being done with them (or you want to stay at the pool for hours and hours even after sunset).

You probably want SOME non-pool place to go out at night too.

Thanks for all the advice in this thread. It looks like we will for sure be hitting up harrahs carnival court.

On a side note has anyone ever been to the hookah bar at the stratosphere? I read that it is BYOB and decently priced for chilling out w/ a hookah. Could be a solid pregame spot.

thanks

I agree with others that Carnival Court is the way to go. For cheap drinks in the area, the previously suggested Casino Royale, and also Flamingo has some cheap drinks as well. I'd roam that area, hitting CR, the piano bar at Harrahs(milfs), the Carnival Court, IP's bar in the front area, Osheas, and Flamingo.

For cheap eats... well there is fast food....over priced subways in CR and Osheas, Chipotle with the most awesome burritos ever between Harrahs and CR. There is Noodles Asia at Venetian which will set you back $10-15 a person and is tasty. There are also specials at a few places. Theres and overpriced Outback at CR, a CPK at Mirage. Canters Deli at TI has good sandwhiches that are not bad. Mirages buffett is in the $23 range for dinner. Aladdin is better at around $26.

Another option for drunken smashed gambling it to go downtown. Few hotties, but plenty of milfish action, particularly at Golden Nugget. 60 oz of beer for like $6-8. Lots of $5 bj tables, a few $3 tables.

There's other places like Isla at Treasure Island with some decent southwestern/mexican style food that is in the $10-$20 range as well as a bunch of fancy tequilas (ranging from moderately priced to really-expensive).

There have to be a bunch of other places in the $20-$30 range for the whole meal but I can't recall off the top of my head.
Maybe some place as you're walking along in the mall area at the Venetian or Paris perhaps.

Couple of the places as you walk into Mandalay don't look like they're too extraordinary in price.

Honestly, what I did when I first went to LV was pick up one of the tour-guide books in the travel section at Barnes and Noble.
I think one of them is called Frommer's or Frommel's Las Vegas or something and they update it every year.
Some of the recommendations for nightclubs and stuff are a bit outdated.
But mostly the stuff about the different restaurants will give you a general idea of what's around (but asking people who have been in there in threads like this ain't bad either)

Also - Really love Noodles Asia at the Venetian. YUM!!!!!
Not much as far as atmosphere though. Little place looking directly at the sportsbook pretty much.

The dueling pianos bar in NYNY was packed with hotties the last time I was down there. Fun atmosphere- seems like it would be easy to strike up a conversation. Not sure how cheap the drinks are, but if you have trouble getting drunk in Vegas cheaply you are doing something very wrong.

Hijack: How many places in vegas still have keno? I think Sam's Town is the only place in tunica that still has it. I know the Southern Belle had it eons ago, and harrah's kept it when they bought that boat, but I think they got rid of it a while back before they sold it to Resorts.

oh man lots of places still do. I'm just thinking about all the restaurants I ate in that had keno cards at the tables. For sure IP and Harrah's did. Almost all of downtown still does. I didn't check many of the others on my last visit.

If you can't find ANYTHING better to do in LV (even on a budget) than trying to get free drinks while pretending to play Keno then you are probably beyond help.

Very much agree with Wayabv - Getting drunk cheaply and finding hotties without having to pay a $40 cover-charge at a club should not be difficult.
