I've found that OSX on it's surface is designed to be an idiot-proof OS, but it's backend is incredibly robust.

I consider myself a PC power user that is constantly tinkering, and I don't feel at all controlled by OSX.

you know just enough about things to sound like an idiot. OSx underlying architecture is BSD, far from fisherprice.

Exactly. Anyone who says that OS X is childish and controlling just has no idea what they're talking about. Apple's blended ease of use with incredible power, and with Parallels letting you do whatever you need in Windows, there's really no reason not to at least give it a try...

Then how do Mac users upgrade if they can't buy a retail box?

[/ QUOTE ]
Apple sells retail boxes of upgrade copies of OS X for Mac customers. They don't sell a standalone version of OS X for whitebox PCs.

Actually, you do have a good point. Apple's been working on reverse engineering the right click feature of Window's for some time now. Rumor has it they've almost cracked the Windows 95 implementation, and will hopefully have it incorporated into the next major release, slated for 2010.

please please please respond again, this is getting fun...
