I can't imagine MP2 checks through that dry of a flop with anything worth 3betting to iso.

I think he's sandbagging a big hand and will bet 100% if you check to him.

This hand smells of KJ or a set with a possible small pp like 5s or 6s. Are we really assuming he checks Ace high or a medium-high pair on that board? I think it's close between c/r and just betting out.

[/ QUOTE ]

He's sat still for four hours.

3betting AK and checking the flop is much much much more likely than 3betting a small pair early on and checking a Q high flop.

MP2 seems like a MUBS player though.

All depends on the player in my mind. Can he read hands? Is he paying any attention to you at all or just concerned with his hand? There are virtually ZERO hands that a thinking player could put you on that don't beat him with the betting pattern here. If you had KQs you would have raised the turn to protect against an Ace falling or the flush or straight completing. If you had KK you'd do the same. QQ would probably have bet the flop, and would certainly have raised the turn for protection. Anything else is either a flush draw or a straight draw, all of which came home to beat his (likely) Top Two. If you check he might find a way to convince himself you've got a smaller two or JJ or pocket 10s, but I don't buy if he's a thinking player.

I hate check-raising here. He'll check behind with way too many hands, especially given description as a straight-forward, passive player.

[/ QUOTE ]

Our definitions of passive are very different. Top 2 pair is plenty for anyone to bet without a read that goes way beyond just "passive", IMO.
