imo, turn is fine and so is flop.
I call the river because you induced a bluff and even though a potbet is scary, calling is the right play here imho.
just my 2cents

I am assuming that villain thinks that he has you beat with Jx. The questions is whether villain has a full house or not.
The range of hands I put villain on is {T8, J9, JT, QJ, KJ, AJ} I don't think that Villain is making a bluff bet on the river. So the question is what is Villain trying to represent on the river. The only hand which makes sense is either T8 or J9. I think you are beaten on the river. I would fold on the river.
Did you call? What was the result?

I used my time bank and eventually decided that there was a decent chance that he was bluffing (more likely) or betting a worse made hand (less likely) so I called. Part of me expected to see a flush...

He had As7s???

So...I guess he did miss his turn c/r and was trying to get max value out of the river, even though the river was about the worst possible card for his hand and there was nothing I could call with that he beat.

Or maybe in his mind he thought he was bluffing?

Who knows.

Nice call. Villain played very bad on the river. Gutsy call of your part on the river. Well done.

Aggressive calls are the key to unlimited hold them.

the pfr is not bad. most of the time you dont need a hand becuase you dont go to showdown and this hand does have some postflop value.

what a weird [censored] hand. nice call, seemed like he was reping flush for sure, usually with it and sometimes a pure bluff. A7 is not what I expected

I guess he thought you would usually put him on a big hand and fold, or possibly think he was bluffing and look him up with KK, QQ or something. This is, of course, assuming you don't have a J or decent A.
surely is -EV, unless everyone at 1k is on like 7th level thinking.
