lol @ you pointing this out, bc even though it's the right answer you probably are too bad to have any idea why or what circumstances merit each.

And you're too much of a douche bag to explain.

1. sweet hand/post

2. this seems pretty easy-play it however you would play your made hands, so basically what ship ship said

this [censored] about checking is rediculous unless you know why you are doing it (which poker monkey and some others dont...)

personally i dont mind it that much bc we have some showdown value against AK and missed spades etc, without the pair im betting this like i would a set...but it still isnt my line of choice bc i dont think you check any strong hands on this turn so a check allows villain to play optimally on the river against us which is lame--so a turn bet maximizes value here imo

[/ QUOTE ]So what you're basically saying is bet it and hope he folds an overpair. I think I understood that idea, indeed I talked about it in my post and decided against it. It's not terrible because half the deck are outs, but you can maximise your value better by saving yourself money if you miss your draw and you're behind. Your bet is only getting called if you are actually behind, apart from when he has suited overs, but that's only a fraction of the time.

Some great comments. However, I am surprised that no one plugged hand ranges into pokerstove, calculated pot odds, and estimated EV from each of the possible lines. Looking back at the hand, I think on the flop I need to look ahead to my plan for the future betting for all the possible routes the hand could take. *IF* I decided on the flop to bet the turn should I miss, I think I'd want a bigger flop raise, so that the turn all-in isn't as much as an overbet.

Maybe that's the solution to the turn pot bet or overbet shove question.

Am I the only one who usually doesn't raise the flop here?

Would not a bet of $750 on the turn make him think possibly you are not on a draw and force him to make a decision right there to shove or fold? I don't see how a shove is the stronger play here.

If you are almost certain he will call with an overpair checking makes the most sence.

bet>check
