The hungrier tournament players, like Gobbo, will be able to stomach the variance because they know they're huge winners compared to the field, but that's not to say all such winners are half the player he is, and he's right that you can't even describe how big the difference between him and others is. Over time all the big tourney guys will show a profit, but how huge their lifetime counts are will be more a function of luck, how hungry they are, how full of other things their plates are, etc. From what he's looked like so far, Gobbo should score large in all those categories, so best of luck to him in gobbling down all the cashes he can.
