Re: ***OFFICIAL: Sopranos finale was super lame thread***
i hated the ending at first, but after thinking about it it wasnt terrible.....the show is about tony and his relationship with his family so I thought it eas kinda fitting him just hanging out with them at a diner, acting like everything is ok.

[/ QUOTE ] Things I liked: The conclusion to the AJ storyline - his complete 180 from almost joining the army to driving an M3 ("it gets 23mpg highway!) working for Carmine's film company so he can one day get his own club. Superficial idealism loses out to self-interest of course. Fits in perfectly with the episode title, "Made in America" Paulie's scenes were great. The story about the virgin appearing in the Bing, getting ready to smack the cat with a broom and then faking sweeping when Tony walks in. Phil's death. After that beautifully filmed, thematically rich execution of Bobby last week, the complete ignominy of the hit on Phil was awesome. Talking baby talk right before he's capped, and then getting his head squished under a tire while some dude yells "oh [censored]!" and a teenager barfs. The last scene. Pretty obvious what's going on there, Tony will be suspiciously eyeing the door, waiting for the other shoe to drop until the day it does. It's why Tony survived the NY dustup, and it's why his life is so miserable. |

Re: ***OFFICIAL: Sopranos finale was super lame thread***
I thought the episode was pretty good. Although at the end I was like "WTF my cable cuts out now!?" for a couple seconds.

Re: ***OFFICIAL: Sopranos finale was super lame thread***
I just kept yelling at the TV WTF???WTF???WTF??? I watched all these years for that ending. Come the [censored] on. I loved that show and I could of evening lived with that ending if the build up hadn't been there. But they way they built it up, it was like the writers were trying to play a bad joke on us at the end like a "gotcha" moment.

Here's a link to a newpaper story that compiles a bunch of different critics' take on the final. Good, short read.

Re: ***OFFICIAL: Sopranos finale was super lame thread***
I didn't like it. "Life goes on" is not an acceptable ending. If life goes on then keep cranking out episodes. Otherwise give us an ending. This just seemed like the easy way out for the writers.

Re: ***OFFICIAL: Sopranos finale was super lame thread***
Well, didn't Tony say earlier in the episode that when you die, everything just goes black. Maybe that's your answer right there.
