Re: Drawbacks of having LOTS of Kids
I don't recall the figures, but I remember reading that at the turn of the last century, the figures were still high enough to kind of shock me. Definitely nothing like it is today in developed countries.

Re: Drawbacks of having LOTS of Kids
almostbusto & nozecandy,
Its not an ideal data set, but most things are accounted for. For example, they only used people who had passed the age of 60 in their data. Taking the samples through the 1200 years increases its validity. I just glanced over it to answer the previous question, but I really don't go back to my shelf and get it. Just trust that its considered to be true among the scientific community. |

Re: Drawbacks of having LOTS of Kids
We call my little brother the "spare emergency back-up son." We're joking around, but it goes to show how we think about extra kids I guess.

Re: Drawbacks of having LOTS of Kids
There is a show on TLC or Discovery (search Comcast on Demand) about families with 11-12 kids. One of the episodes is about this family in Missouri where all the kids (up to age 25) still live at home and ALL of them wear horizontally striped polo shirts. I said to myself, "These people have to be Jesus freaks." Half way through the episode, they had a "charity" softball game to fund the church they have in their basement.
