Re: China/US Soccer Match
[ QUOTE ]
SMB, Brad Guzan will almost certainly be the goalkeeper for Copa America. He's not even traveling with the team for the Gold Cup since he's 3rd string, so he'll be available for Chivas the whole time. Also, Donovan has bitched that he doesn't want to play in two straight international competitions. Not that I'm sure losing him would be a huge loss considering his play in any international match that's mattered at all since the 2002 World Cup quarterfinal. [/ QUOTE ] FYP |

Dude, if the US plays well in Copa America, that will be massive. The potential for a US vs Brazil/Argentina matchup would get a ton of press here [/ QUOTE ] I assume you were talking about the press if there were to be a final or a late knockout stage US vs Brazil/Argentina but just an FYI Argentina plays the US in their first game. From what I gather from watching Fox News here in BsAs, barring injuries nearly all stars/key players are planning on playing Copa America for Argentina. However, Kaka and Ronaldinho appear to have asked to sit out for Brazil. |

Oh [censored], US plays Argentina first? I don't know much about the tournament. Is there a group stage?

Oh [censored], US plays Argentina first? I don't know much about the tournament. Is there a group stage? [/ QUOTE ] Yes group stage Group A: Venezula Uruguay Peru Bolivia Kind of weak, not a single WC team although Uruguay came close and lost to Australia in a playoff in order to be the last team to make the final. Not sure if there were seedings or any kind or organizing of groups. Only thing I could think of is giving a top seed to the hosts (venezula) and then to Brazil and Argentina. Others are subject to random draw. Group B: Brazil Ecuador Chile Mexico Toughest group with 3 WC teams and two that made it to the 2nd round. Chile is not a walkover either. Group C: US Argentina Colombia Paraguay Pretty tough as Colombia isn't a joke and Paraguay qualified for the last WC. We should make a Copa America thread in a few weeks. |
