Re: Barrys book - 30 million from dice, craps and heads up poker
[ QUOTE ]
In his wonderful book Ace On The River there is an anecdote about a dice player that won 30 million dollars through dice, craps and high limit heads up poker. He then proceeded to lose it all. From what i remember he won and lost all of it within a year. Pretty damn crazy. Anyone have any insight in this? Who was the player etc. [/ QUOTE ] Not trying to be nitty...but the last time I checked, dice & craps are the same thing. |

[ QUOTE ] I played with him a couple of times during last years WSOP. The regular biggest cash game at the Rio was a 400-800 mixed game featuring BOT (Badugi, Omaha 8 or better, and Triple draw lowball). When Archie wanted to play, we made the game BRT, replacing the omaha with Razz. He was pretty weak at all the games, including the razz. In triple draw in particular, he was horrible, calling 3 bets cold on the first round of betting one time and drawing 4. Later, Greg Raymer (FossilMan) [/ QUOTE ] I assume he's much older now. So is this a case of age catching up with him and he's just not good anymore; or was he never good, and went on a 2 year "run". Oh and jesus.........$10 mill a year salary and benefits package. So if he loses a $500k HU session that's like you or I losing our 2 week paycheck. It might sting a bit, but not that bad. Baldwin makes brain surgeons look like chumps. [/ QUOTE ] You better pray you never need brain surgery... |

I do know something about Razz, and am curious to know what kinds of plays he was making that would be considered weak. |
