Re: Your Favorite Baseball Team
"Which team is your favorite?"
CLeveland! "Do you think they can make noise in the postseason?" Hell Yes! "why?" Because i'm a retard who learns nothing from history, a lot like a cubs fan- except watching Jordan play are amoung the worst memories in my life. |

Red Sox. I'm looking forward to a Papelbon-Beckett combo at the top of the rotation...at least, if they're healthy... [/ QUOTE ] I've got Papelbon as a 25 cent keeper on my roto team...how about a scouting report on him? Is he really going to make the rotation? I'm hearing bullpen for him. |

You do remember the postseason, right? He's done. Albert ruined him and Podsednik finished him. Dye just tapdanced on the corpse. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah okay, a reliever has a few bad outings and his career is shot. Not everyone is Rick Ankiel, okay? |

[/ QUOTE ] Hmm...the consensus here is basically that he really should be in the rotation, but probably won't be to start out. Everyone likes him because he was clearly the best SP on the team last year (in his short time on the team). Schilling-Beckett-Arroyo-Wakefield-Clement is probably going to be the rotation. But 1) Arroyo might end up in the bullpen instead of Papelbon and 2) it is EXTREMELY unlikely that Beckett and Schilling can both make it through the season healthy. So I'd expect him to be starting at some point during the season. And I completely agree with whoever said that the Brewers have hope this year. Sheets-Davis-Capuano plus some fine infield prospects; they will compete barring some disasterous set of injuries. |

1) Arroyo might end up in the bullpen instead of Papelbon [/ QUOTE ] Doubt it, Arroyo refuses to work out of the pen again, and he has seniority, which matters to idiot managers like the Red Sox currently have. [ QUOTE ] 2) it is EXTREMELY unlikely that Beckett and Schilling can both make it through the season healthy. [/ QUOTE ] This, however, is true. [ QUOTE ] So I'd expect him to be starting at some point during the season. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, for 25 cents I would keep him. [ QUOTE ] Red Sox. [/ QUOTE ] IMO Papelbon ran very lucky last year, and the Red Sox will do themselves a lot of damage if they put him in the rotation over Wakefield or Wells. The main problem with Papelbon is that he averaged walking a batter almost every 2 innings. It is nearly impossible to walk that many batters over the long term and remain a succesful pitcher. Another sign that points to a fluke 2005 is that with the Red Sox his strikeout numbers soard over what he posted in the minor leagues. I don't expect that to happen again. The good news is that Papelbon's walk totals in the minors were better than what he posted with the Sox, and all of Boston's pitchers will benefit from having a shortstop who doesn't suck in the field. That said, I'm a lot higher on Craig Hansen and especially Lenny DiNardo than I am on Papelbon. I think it would be smart if the Sox traded him while his reputation is still big. |
