Re: Lay Down a Set?
I can understand thinking twice whenever a good tight player is interested in a hand. However, I think by the way it's played he'll likely have AK. He'll get paid here with AQ, AJ, KK, QQ by a lot of bad players. If I've seen him make bet hard out of position like this before with an A on board, I'm even more inclined to give him AK.

Re: Lay Down a Set?
OP
It is often easy to rationalise a fold when an opponents strong betting "must" mean that he has you beaten. Given the lack of reads you are really just scared of AA - 66 may raise under the gun, but should certainly be discounted in evaluating likelihood. 99 is very unlikely to have bet the flop into the field with a card which may well have helped. There has been a 2nd caller. I think given the level of interest in the pot, 66 would raise. Therefore, I imagine this guy is on Ax. If this is our assumption then that gives UTG 1 AA combo, and 8 AK combos. Also look at the bet size - full pot. If you have AA, do you pot it? After all, if people come for the ride, they are drawing to 1 out. This is the perfect spot to get the money in two steps with a $75 bet, and try and take two stacks in one. Ok, you probably got stacked - all villains are different. But this is my thought process as to why this is an instacall. |

Re: Lay Down a Set?
Actually I hijacked this thread. Most of the discussion was about a hand posted about 1/3 the way down the page. A new thread was started for the OP, titled "Hijacked Thread"

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Here is a hand I played last night that I really think I should have gotten away from on the turn [/ QUOTE ] ROFL scared money? [/ QUOTE ] ummm....no..... since when is making a correct fold scared money? If he has QQ there half the time and AA-KK the other half, does this make it a call or does it make it a fold? Neither, it means that it really doesn't matter what you do, in the long run it is breakeven. PS sorry about the hijack. [/ QUOTE ] ROFL if he has QQ 50% and AA/KK the other 50% its an instant snapcall folding in that spot would be terrible |

Re: Lay Down a Set?
If you play this hand you want to see Ax2 flop, the other dude holding Ax. So what are you waiting for?
I don't see many questionmarks here... Set over set you almost always get stacked on such boards... For other advice, go to the BBV |
