...I always think of it this way

Should would I do outside of my job affect my employment status....I dont think so

...If I wanna get high, break the law, kill people etc...and it doesnt affect my job then who cares

this debate was already had - but the whole point is that those things are very likely to affect your job. if you get drunk every night, who's to say you won't get drunk during the day? when someone is spiraling out of control, work is very often affected.

but Pacman was really good last year on the field, so well the off the field stuff didn't hurt much if at all

The fact is that, unlike most of our employers, the NFL derives its revenues from viewership. If its fanbase doiesn't like what goes on off the field, it will impact business. This really isn't that tough to figure out.

i'm not sure how i feel about this, wrt outside life impacting his work life. in any case, as far as the answer to this question

then you probably shouldn't sign a contract which allows your employer to suspend you for out of work violations.
