Default Re: Brag: Discovered Progressive Pot Games

[ QUOTE ]
Anyone know how to play this game or any other progressive pot games that entice tons of action? Gracias.

One of my home game favorites: The Bitch

Basically it's a game with progressive pots and progressive hands.

Everyone antes a preset amount. Deal everyone two cards, and deal an extra hand in the middle -- this is The Bitch.

Going around the table from the dealer's left, each player chooses to pass or play.

If only one player plays, that player exposes his cards and The Bitch's cards. If the player's two-card hand is better, the player takes the pot and the game starts over with the deal passing to the left. If The Bitch wins, the player matches the pot.

If two or more players choose to play, they compare cards. Players who passed are not allowed to see the competitors' cards. The highest hand takes the pot, and the loser(s) have to match what was in the pot -- but the matched amount forms a new pot for the next round. A player cannot refuse to match the pot.

If someone matched the pot at the end of the round, everyone keeps their cards for the next round. Everyone must ante up again to continue playing, unless they just had to match the pot by playing and losing the previous round. Failure to ante means you're out of the game until the pot "breaks" by someone beating The Bitch and a new game starts.

For the next round, deal every player another card, including The Bitch. If The Bitch had any cards exposed from the previous round, turn them back face-down. Play works exactly as in the previous round, except now it's three-card poker.

If the game doesn't break by a solo player beating The Bitch, continue with a third round by dealing two more cards and playing five-card poker hands.

Finally, if the game is still going, deal two more cards and play your best five-card poker hand out of your seven.

For this final round, resolve the same way as before, then the deal passes and start over again at two cards.

All commonsense poker rules apply. Also, it's against the rules to talk about another player's hand that you've seen.

Played correctly, this is a fast-paced game. Add wildcards for extra hilarity.

We never played this for table stakes -- if you had to go into your wallet to match the pot, that's your problem. We do mostly use a match limit, maybe 25 antes, because pots can and do sometimes balloon up to ridiculous heights.
