Dont berate them, say nothing or nice hand.
The best is when other people are berating a donk and I like to start defending the donk and telling the table it was the right play. But seriously, its -EV to berate.

[/ QUOTE ]QFT.

I also will always side with the donkey against the nitty berator and I will keep silent if it is a really bad 100BB bad beat on a bad day or force myself to say "nice hand, you played this one good" if I've been running good before that and thus it wasn't such a big deal.

Berating is stupid. Coaching villains is super moronic. Mislead them at every opportunity, they want to take your moneyz after all.

Have a couple kids and you'll learn restraint

Seriously it's really bad for business. There is one guy playing PS FR 50NL lately who runs like 70/30 and he's basically my ATM. Last night a guy starts laying into him calling him a donkey, etc. When the guy finally left to play a $5 SNG I berated him. FR is all set miners and short stacks anymore so why chase the live ones out?

[/ QUOTE ]

Nicely said. Totally agree!

If you berate the donks your basically a business owner who chases away the best costomers.

Your left with the ones you don't really want to deal with.

I totally agree with the nice hand route, and pretty much always do this if sucked out on.

However, what are people's responses when people start berating you? Again, this is actually a good sign that they are getting frustrated/think you are a fish. Unfortunately I have a sharp tongue, so tend to take the opportunity to banter them to pieces. Anyone else find it hard to resist, and do you think this is negative EV too?

I like to keep everyone happy at the table if I get a chance.

- Suck out on me, I said, "nice hand!"
- Bust on them, I said, "bad luck! don't let it gets you, it's poker. Rebuy and gets your money back!"

Isn't the only way we make money because our opponent play worse than us? So why would we wanna tell them that they suck at the game and should never play the game ever again?

Absolutely! Every edge we can get is +EV even if it means being a "nice guy" and making some friends although that is harder to do multi-tabling.

BTW, I do berate regular shortstackers. Or rather gloat and rub it in when I win a coinflip against them.
