Re: \"Selig earned $14.5 million in fiscal \'05\"
[ QUOTE ]
I'm pretty sure MLB.TV needs to be moved from "bad" to "good". [/ QUOTE ] Oops, I meant for it to be under both bad and good... Putting it under bad was more of a joke/complaint then a knock on Selig. |

Yeah, like Drew said it didn't mean much in the grand scheme of things but it generated so much bad press that as a result they made the game "worth" something the next season.

SL-72, how many new stadiums were built under his regime?
Seriously, I think this guy is a douche bag, but he has built a very good base for the league for years to come. |

Re: \"Selig earned $14.5 million in fiscal \'05\"
The tie All Star game led to "This Time It Counts" which still infuriates me. Why aren't we rewarding the team with the best record with home field advantage? WTFFFFFFFFFF

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Selig is also responsible for having one division with 4 teams and one division with 6 teams! [/ QUOTE ] R U implying he had an interest in what league the Brew Crew played in!? [/ QUOTE ] No, I am implying that it is [censored] stupid to have one division with 6 teams and one division with 4. [/ QUOTE ] There's not really anything he can do about that. There are 30 teams in baseball. Baseball teams play nearly every day and only play the other league a few weeks of the year. So, if all divisions in baseball had 5 teams, there would be a team in each league not playing every single day. That won't work. You need an even (but not equal) number of teams in each league. |

[/ QUOTE ] 15 [/ QUOTE ] btw, this is very very very very very bad for communities, but very very very very very good for owners. obv. basically under selig's watch it became OK to hold cities hostage for new stadia. slowly that's eroding. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't really understand why interleague play has to all be done at once, like it's a big holiday or something. Competitive balance should be the most important consideration of the league. There should be 15 teams in each league, with interleague games constantly being scheduled. The league could then still schedule the interleague rivalry games all on the same weekend if they wanted to Not sure how many people have read Bob Costas' book Fair Ball, but he does a pretty fantastic job of pointing out the long-term damage that things like the wild card have done to baseball. |
