I'm thinking the main-event numbers don't really tell the whole story of the success of those events although it does give SOME idea.

But it's worth noting that lots of players come into town to just play the prelim events or the cash-games or whatever.

Met people from all over the midwest and south last October or whatever when the WSOP-C came to town.
January WSOP-C in Tunica is a different story because the WPO is taking place at the same time in a different casino so it's the combination that brings in everyone.
