Re: Dubai = Greatest City in The World?
What you are saying is true in a way, and they can do a lot more "good" changes than you can, and if I had that kind of money, personally I'll do something along the line of saving the environment.
But the bottom line is, the money that Dubai has is not my money, and whatever they do with it is their business. It'll be different if they decided to make a nuclear weapon, but building buildings? I certainly can not say that they are "wrong" to do so. By the way, if you don't mind me asking, where did you donate the 21%. I'm just curious. |

Re: Dubai = Greatest City in The World?
Dubai is certainly the most extravagent city in the world. The development is nothing short of an ecological disaster. Dubai on paper is interesting as a concept, we'll see how the exeucution pans.

Re: Dubai = Greatest City in The World?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] What is the difference, other than that they are doing it with a lot more money than you? [/ QUOTE ] The difference is they can create change because of the amount of money they have. My donated 21% of earnings this past tax year is meaningless in the whole scheme of things. Now, if they donated 21% of their earnings this past year, the world would change for the better. [/ QUOTE ] so if you EARN a lot of money, it is your job to donate because some other guy who would rather spend his money and didn't earn as much wont donate anything. Do you believe teh crap you type. |

You basically handed some manager at a charitable organization a bunch of money to use on his new car. |

Re: Dubai = Greatest City in The World?
You are all missing an important point: Dubai is pretty much dry outside of hotels. A great city has to have easily accessible alchohol.
It's also way too hot, dusty everywhere and whilst it's a very moderate islamic country, it's still a very religious country. It's still pretty nice though! |

Don't forget that Dubai has a SKI RESORT in one of its malls.
But Islam is a wack religion, so -40 points right there. |
