gp,

raptor or yellowsub or Taylor Caby are among the kids around here w/ far too much money. Hmmm, I guess Taylor actually isn't really a kid except to old guys like me.

I agree that could be a solid thread for someone like that to start.

i think we ought to have a thread about how one would go about getting recruited into the CIA.
i have always been fascinted by espionage, and while i would never personally want to sell my soul to the devil and join the CIA i think its extremely interesting and would like to know more about it beyond the standard join the army and go from there bit.

i want to know how the really hardcore spies get into it.

I hate to disappoint you here, but the CIA came to my mid-tier college and set up a job-fair thing. This is how they recruit people. Fortunately I was able to pick up a CIA post-it note pad that provided endless entertainment.

i'm pretty sure those college trips are looking for pencil pushers, translators etc. most real spooks get recruited after being some kind of military badass. i know two guys - one a much older cousin and one a friend of my dad's who were in the company and they've told some of the bet stories i've ever heard. (both were in special forces prior to their recruitment). my cousin was in the us embassy in iran during that whole ordeal and to hear him tell it is nuts.

A few suggestions:

I think that there could be more agressive moderation when it comes to short, low-content posts.

As mentioned in another thread, I think it would be best to avoid threads/posts that will bring about lists without discussion.

I'm pretty happy with this way this forum is going, although as of late I think there's been less going on in terms of really interesting topics.

I enjoy short, low-content posts as long as they are good. I'm not sure I can quantify exactly what makes some good and some not...but their is a difference.

I don't want this forum to turn into a long-winded bore fest, much like I view the lounge. Short posts have their place, bad posts do not
