In other news, every state has been ordered to build 50 new federal prison complexes by the end of 2007. [/ QUOTE ] States don't build federal prisons. They build state prisons. The Feds build federal prisons; they just happen to build them in states (Gitmo being an exception). |

States don't build federal prisons. [/ QUOTE ] Good catch. The real question is -- will they be "pound-me-in-the-ass" prisons, or the ones with the ornamental waist-high fences? |

[/ QUOTE ] Probably wouldn't make much of a difference, as you could still get bent over the ornamental waist-high fence and get pounded in the ass. |

I seriously doubt they would go after players. I see stories on illegal gambling operations being busted all the time. I have never seen the players getting charged just for the playing. Can anyone report/link on a busted gambling operation where the players were charged with federal crimes?
Think if the shear number of voters that would fall into this "player" category, the size of the investigations/prosecution of individuals coupled with the massive negative PR just about precludes a federal strategy to go after players. I think it would be a stretch to fit them into the current federal statutes anyway, but my opinion on that would not prevent the feds from finding otherwise. |

Isn't this a DOJ investigation, and isn't there some sharing of information act or something prohibiting federal agencies from sharing certain information uncovered during an investigation?
For example, if I understand correctly, if I report drug dealing money as income for IRS, the IRS can't legally go and tell my local law enforcement agency to arrest me. |

OP, you are moron, and maybe a paranoid schizofrenic.
I stopped reading your post half way through. The IRS is underfunded and undermanned. They sure as hell do not have crack storm squads of accountants ready to fan out across the country tracking down every last internet poker player. Sure, they'll go over the info and go after the people who'll be easiest to go after or get money from, but this fear mongering is just so over the top. |

I think that they will go after high-profile celebrity poker stars, then anyone not claiming 6 figure incomes, then 5 figure incomes, but nothing under that. They have limited manpower and will try and get the best Bang for their Buck (To set an example).
