I think there was some seriously good HARD rock, which is basically what you mentioned (RATM, NIN, etc, those go along wiht the likes of tool and alice in chains).

IThere was plenty of good music from the 90's, but, there was also good music in the 80's, but when you think '80s music' you think of the pop crap.

MUDHONEY -
Touch me I'm Sick,

[/ QUOTE ]

Holy crap, so the single from Citizen Dick, Touch Me I'm Dick was a take off on that? Man I guess I need to be more of a music junkie to appreciate Cameron Crowe films.

Been so long since I've seen Singles I had to look up the reference.

On the Singles sountrack, Mudhoney does a great song about the whole Seattle scene called "Overblown". I forgot to mention their bad-azz Elvis Costello cover of "Pump it up"

IMO, the Melvins and Mudhoney are the two best bands outta the whole grunge movement, in part because they weren't ruined by overexposure.

I figured Alice in Chains and Tools didn't get mentioned earlier because they're so obvious, same for Radiohead.

my all time favorite Rock album of the 90's is the original Candlebox album. 3 of my fav songs are on there.

They died out pretty quickly because their 2 follow-up albums sucked.

Check them out... you won't be dissapointed... especially track 3 & 5

This is good. I liked Candlebox's first album, but the others did kind of suck. 10,000 Horses was an alright song, but Far Behind is definitely their best.

It fascinates me that, in the end, this band and this album probably had more influence on the sound of rock radio than any other from the era

I'll fill in some CANCON. Check out Sloan, start with Underwhelmed and Money City Maniacs.
