The unfinished Intel Corp. building will go out with a bang — literally — on Feb. 25.

The federal General Services Administration said Tuesday that a contractor will implode the downtown building at 7am that Sunday morning.

It will cost $1.3 million to demolish the building.

Intel once planned a design center downtown, but abandoned the project during the tech downturn in 2001.

It will be replaced by a $65 million federal courthouse with 211,690 square feet. .

also, if you dont know of the site check out www.auschron.com for music events and more around town.

OP: Are you 21+?

It's probably Austin even if not, but if so, definitely Austin, not close.

Good, but Ova-rated! And pricey.

Overrated? Maybe to some. Pricey? Not a chance. It's like 15-20 bucks for all you can eat delicious BBQ. If you don't have time to make it down there, at least go to Rudy's. And don't bother with the Salt Lick 360 in the city. It's still good, but not all you can eat- unless you've got a big group there, and the atmosphere isn't as good. Oh, also not BYOB.

lol. That was the only one I've been to. I'm not from Austin, and forgot that the "real" one is at a different location. SL 360 was like $17 and the food wasn't spectacular. I prefer Goode Co. $11 meals. You are right, the atmosphere was pretty strange, too.

Overall I was bummed, but I would like to go to the other Salt Lick someday.

Was there 2 weeks ago for a convention and everyone was going to SL360 again but me and my buds passed on it this time.

oh geeez. you disgraced salt lick's good name for no good reason? 360 is managed by the owner's wife's project and is a completely different restaurant. they just attach the salt lick name for recognition. other than that they dont have anything to do w/ one another.

I'm not doing [censored]. I'm on vacation. I'll be here 'til Monday, so PM me if you want to hang out or whatever. I have no specific plans.

Hey, I'm visiting my friend in Elgin, about 30 miles SE of Austin on 290. I keep one of my 12 guitars and an extra amp up here in his garage. We get together every few weeks and jam for hours deep into the night, mostly playin them blues. Getting pretty good after 20 something years.

Speaking of guitars and blues, some great music in Austin. I need to get out to sixth street again soon.

My favorite BBQ is Rudy's but Salt Lick and County Line are both good too.

Nath, be sure and spend some time on 6th street and watch the world's most beautiful coeds dressing slutty and then playing hard to get.
