It's the same as my issue with the masked player at the Wynn.

I had this cell phone experience the other night playing NL 2/5, what should I have done? Tilted, weak player utg who overvalues broadway cards raises to 50. UTG+1 shortstack who moved to our table 1 orbit ago and hasn't played a hand flat calls. Everyone else folds to me in the bb, where I wake up w/AK. I have utg covered and go allin, hoping for a call from utg as I most likely have him dominated, and figuring if the shorty calls, I'm racing him in the worst case scenario.

Well UTG guy thinks about calling me for like a full minute. All of a sudden, the shorty who was left to act behind him, pulls out his cell phone, turns away from the table, and starts talking to someone. I'm like wtf?! The dealer sees him, but does nothing. I wanted shorty's hand declared dead, but I didn't want to say anything and scare utg off from calling, and/or have the dealer not declare shorty's hand dead and have shorty more likely to call me with a pp (if that's what he had).

That would probably get a clock request from me. Either direct or indirect mumbling so people sitting near me can hear and get one of them to do it.

Your going to call a clock on a player who the action hasn't reached?

I just want to point out that the dealer can NEVER declare a player's hand dead. From the description of the action it sounds like he had his mind made up about what he is doing when the action reaches him.

How do you figure? Sounds more to me like he's using a Lifeline.

Someone called him on the phone and he has the back to his table. He is not a well known player taking a call at the final table in Tunica a few years ago. He most likely has more interest in the phone call than what is happening at the table. Have you ever waited for a minute while someone decides what to do when you ahve already decided to fold? It is an eternity.

He doesn't know what to do. He's a fairly new player. While the guy ahead of him is deciding, he calls his poker knowledgeable friend to ask him what he should do. He may or may not know about the one player to a hand rule. Doesn't matter because nobody is stopping him.
