Re: Whats the worst first round of a draft in any sport ever?
[ QUOTE ]
Indy had #1 and #2 how did that happen? naturally neither panned out [/ QUOTE ] I believe they got the #2 by trading Chris Hinton (remember him?) to Minnesota, but that's just a guess. I can't think of anyone else they had then that they could've traded for a #1. Had Emtman not got crippled & Coryatt even been a fraction of what he was projected to be, they would've been outstanding picks. Coryatt actually cost them a Supe trip in the classic 96' AFC Champ game. Neil O'Donnell threw the ball right to him as Pitt was driving at the end but he dropped it. He had 8.5 sacks in his career, no way to project he'd bust that hard. He was a beast in college. I remember some writers criticizing the Colts at the time for not taking Desmond Howard over Coryatt=lolz. Then he turns into Carl Banks and you took a punt returner over him. In terms of results, that '92 does look bad, but look at '91. Eric Swann, Dan McGwire, and, yes, Todd not-Marino-vich. I guess Herm Moore & Alvin Harper and a couple others were OK, but jeez. Todd Lyght was pretty good, IIRC. One thing that's hilarious is looking at the Pats' picks in the late 80s & early 90s, aside from Bledsoe. Eugene Chung #11 overall! |

It would have to be an MLB or NHL draft because so many of those guys fade away before getting anywhere near ther pros. 1996 MLB Draft looks pretty unspectacular. Re: Whats the worst first round of a draft in any sport ever?
Actually only about 50% of mlb first rounders actually make at least some time in the bigs.
While they have no superstars (except maybe Koch in his time) there were enough respectable MLB players to make this not the worst draft ever. |

Once again, Eric Chavez a few years ago was one of the best 3B in the league.

Re: Whats the worst first round of a draft in any sport ever?
1999 NHL entry draft for sure.
only players worth a damn are daniel and henrik sedin, tim connolly, dave tanabe and martin havlat. for reference, the 1998 draft had vincent lecavalier, david legwand, brad stuart, bryan allen, vitali vishnevsky, nik antropov, alex tanguay, martin skoula, dmitri kalinin, robyn regehr, mathier biron, simon gagne, jiri fischer, mike van ryn and scott gomez. 2000 had rick dipietro, dany heatly, marian gaborik, rotislav kesla, scott hartnell, marcel hossa, brooks orpik, alexandr frolov and justin williams. |
