Leno vs. Letterman

Watching Ferguson from start to finish for the first time now. He's always struck me as kind of spastic, but at least is more willing/able to approach the censor lines than Leno/Letterman.

Letterman's stand up is horrific and Leno's interviewing skills are horrific. It's a tie.

u know letterman got all pissed off when leno got the job at NBC and to this day will not even speak to Leno.
Letterman is not only lacking the funny, he lacks character.

Because I've always - and I'm pretty sure research has backed this up - believed that Leno has appealed to an older crowd, whereas Letterman has been favored by a hip, younger group. I watch these guys so little anymore that maybe Letterman has gone WAY in the tank to the point where his sarcasm and pessimism doesn't even resonate any more.

Also, I'm by no means saying I seek out Leno (I didn't vote in the poll) but expected a larger groundswell of Leno hate/Letterman love.

I don't think very many people are 'loving' either of them at this point. Most of the time when this topic comes up it's more of a 'who sucks slightly less' discussion.

I got bored with Letterman's routine when I was in junior high. That was about 1983-84. I only watched it sporadically after that.

Although I am not old enough to remember Letterman's true golden years, I still think he is miles above Leno any day. Leno's little sketches make me laugh on occassion but his personality sucks and a lot of his monologue is just petty potshots and stuff. I remember Letterman being awesome in most formats but how long can you host one of these shows for and maintain it? I guess Leno has "held up" better over the years now that they both suck but I've never liked Leno at all and Letterman destroyed him in their respective primes. Paul Schaffer is disgusting though, my brother thinks he looks like a naked mole rat.
