Minnesota Vikings coordinator Mike Tomlin is set to replace Bill Cowher as Pittsburgh's coach, Chris Mortensen confirmed. Tomlin would become the first black head coach in Pittsburgh's 74-year history. An official statement could come as early as Sunday.

If Tomlin is the coach, I don't give him long to survive for the lone fact that he's black. Pittsburgh is racist as hell.

Anybody have any idea what they ask in these interviews? How can you tell from an interview who is going to be a successful NFL coach?

im really surprised they hired a black dude. ive been to pitt a bunch of times and have never seen anyone black there. its not like cleveland or detroit. its all white trash. they are gonna run this guy out of town fast.

Yes, the burgh is more white-trashy than most NFL cities, but I don't think that matters. How is this guy gonna get run out of town? It's not like the Rooney's are white trash. I would be really surprised if there are crosses burning in his yard or something like that. Pittsburgh is full of hicks, not KKK members.

Anyway, I don't know if he'll be a winner, but I think he was the best of their 3 finalists by far (although I don't know that much about Rivera). I also think he will be given a serious chance and would not be run out of town even if he starts with a couple of losing seasons and they need to rebuild.
