The outcome will be better than the last time those infamous words were uttered (that you paraphrased so well).

The most interesting thing about this development, is that China has now demonstrated its capabilities. AFAIK, the US is not capable of doing the same.

At least it may start to curb the USA obviously unbridled imperialist and hegemonic tendencies which have run rampant since the demise of the Soviet Union for lack of a brake of some sort.

[/ QUOTE ]Equally interesting was the almost universal condemnation of China by the American media.

Remember, the Chinese shot down one of their own satellites. In what was a clearly defensive exercise! Aimed at the myriad offensive sats up there, the majority of which belong to ...the United States. The same United States which has already an elaborate anti-missile defensive system up, a system that's explicitly aimed at nullifying the MAD deterrent.

How dare the Chinese try and defend themselves?

China has repeatedly pressed for the US to sign agreements outlawing arms in space, overtures Washington has repeatedly rejected. So, what's the problem now?

Default China/Us

China engaging in any kind of actual military conflict(even by proxy)is absurd. They have been building a vast industrial base to profit from the US. Any kind of war with the United States=instant economic ruin.

Building up their military and demonstrating its ability is definitely part of China's rising status as the next superpower. I'm not saying they won't rival the US in economic, and even possibly social impact(examples would be the massive increase in the desire for people to learn mandarin) on the rest of the world, but any of their plans involve very profitable(not to mention MUTUALLY beneficial) trading relations with the US.

As for the claims of massive counter fitting, does anyone have anything evidence-wise that this is being done by the Chinese state? They own a lot of American debt so I'm not sure why they would want to devalue the USD. It seems more likely that any kind of mass counter fitting would be done by private individuals, its not like there isn't 1+ billion Chinese people living in China and like any people a certain percentage of them will be criminals.

CHINA will never invade another country, they only want the chicken state which they already have if you look now with tibet as part of their land. Taiwanese overwhelmingly want closer ties with the mainland and anyone can see the current ultra pro independance camp is on it's way out with no support.

China however is protecting itself from a USA which has positioned itself in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and trying to position itself on the other side in the Middle East. Where as the middle east has historically been closer with the Chinese.

China is doing nothing more than protecting itself from USA.

The United States has considerable anti-satellite weapons capability. An F-15-based homing vehicle system was successfully tested in the 1980s, and the anti-ballistic missile system currently being deployed in Alaska and California has an inherent anti-satellite capability.
