How are americans treated? What are the people like? What is there for entertainment? What are the shops and food like?

[/ QUOTE ]

You didn't ask these about Argentina, but I feel like answering anyways.

Americans are treated pretty well around here. I mean you have the money and they are coming off a huge economic crisis. They need you. The people here are incredibly friendly as well and pretty patient with you if you are making any attempt to speak their language and fit in. I didn't mention it before, but language classes are $7-10/hr for private and $4-5/hr for small group.

Like I said the people are very friendly and the Argentine women are very beautiful. I'm not going to go so far as they have better looking women than I saw in Sweden, but they are definitely much better looking than the USA. Also, an important thing to note is that Argentines are not Latinos. They are Europeans for the most part (> 95% of the population is white with the rest being Hispanic) that came from mostly Spain and Italy, but also Germany, Sweden, France, and other places. I know a German-Argentine, blond-haired, blue-eyed, girl who speaks perfect English for instance.

I briefly touched on it before but Argentina has some of the best theatre in the world, especially at the Teatro Colon (pictured below). Lots of tango shows, plays, opera, symphonies, musicals, etc and all are pretty reasonably priced.

WRONG! worst case scenario is you can't access the poker sites anymore.

The bill passed by Congress gives the Bush administration no authority to shut down internet sites, it just deals with money transfers. The regs can't exceed the scope of authority given to them by Congress in the act- if they did, the courts would quickly strike the regs.

Meteron. How hard is it to open a bank account for a foreigner?

I mean I assume you have to have residence and a passport. Anything else?

My understanding is UK does not tax gambling winnings. I hear its wicked expensive and probably tough to get residency.

Question that needs to be answered..

From what I remember, it's very simple to open a Bank of New Zealand account. But I researched this a long time ago. Thailand would be a good place but where is one supposed to bank?

Your post confuses me. I was asking Meteron about opening an account in Argentina. Is there a Bank of New Zealand in Argentina? Or were you referring to going to New Zealand or Thailand to open an account?

Meteron-

we really need to get that travel forum going.

I heard banks are pretty unsafe there. Is that true?
I also heard that there is sometimes problems with the electricity.

I was referring to opening a bank account in another country in general, then I kinda babbled about banks in other countries.

The government didn't let people withdraw their dollars in 2001 during a huge economics crisis. Then they just converted everyone's money to pesos at a crappy rate. Basically, they screwed their people over.

I wouldn't open a bank account here or at least wouldn't keep a significant balance in it. I use my Swiss bank account for pretty much everything and it works fine. I'm having some trouble with Party but that is to be expected since its Party.

Never heard of anything with the electricity and the internet works fine.

You would still owe U.S. taxes, it's horribly expensive, and you need to marry an ugly british chick to get residency. That help?
