I've never done Nutri-System. From what I know though, all their foods are shelf stable, meaning they need no refrigeration, (aka full of preservatives?)

Haven't done NutriSystem - but did know someone who attempted it. I don't think it's preservatives....I think they do some sort of air-tight sealing thing....like how they package canned fruit & stuff like that.

Thanks OP and all for this thread. I was thinking about nutrisystem as it's so much cheaper than some of the alternatives. After the responses in this thread I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like the food.

FYI - for the last few months I have been paying a neighbor $150/week to cook all my meals on the zone diet. I've been pretty pleased and lost about 20 lbs since august or so. But I'm not sure if she's going to continue. I've looked into commercial alternatives and they're $30-$44/day. I'll report back if I end up trying any of those.

This is really interesting, because I also lost 25 lbs 2.5 years ago eating mainly lean cuisines...

hehe ffk you should submit to the success stories then i found it very validating, even though there are like 2394327987 success stories. although the similarity between all of our #s is more then a little creepy...

edit:
astro, I've heard that about Amy's also (that being it's very good), but it's too $$ for me.

Suzzer, I agree with Nutrisystem being inexpensive, but Lean Cuisines at 5 for $10 means 2$ a meal. I literally spent ~$150 a month eating them + in season fruits/veggies.

I did nutrisystem last year for about 3-4 months. I lost about 20-25 lbs. I thought the food was mostly ok. I liked being able to select what I wanted each month and getting what I liked. I thought it was too pricey myself which is why I stopped. I found the weight I lost.

It may be overkill if you only need to loose 20 pounds, but it will work if you stick to it.
