Hit and runs used to bother me, especially right after I started playing a decent amount of heads up, but they don't anymore and I don't understand why people make such a big deal out of them.

Who cares how long people want to play? It doesn't change your EV, in fact it's almost certainly better for you to have them playing when they're stuck and leaving as soon as they go up. It reminds me of the players who will get furious at the fish who make dumb plays and suckout, yeah we all went through that phase but at some point don't you realize how ridiculous it is?

Poppin,

The difference is here is that I just don't understand the mentality at all. It's like guys who go to the casino, make one bet, and if they win, they're done. WTF? To me, people gamble for two reasons: because they enjoy the game, or because they can beat the game (e.g. money). These guys do neither and I will never understand or respect them.

It's just such a lack of class to take $200 off a guy and not give him the chance to get it back - people would never be able to do that at a regular game with the same players unless they were a total steaming fish when they got stuck.

Not that it should matter to anyone, but I actually had stuff to do, although when I sit down at a high limit table with the bare minimum do you really expect me to put in a 5 hour session? Come on now. I know that when I sit down at 25/50 NL I'm the 5th or 6th best player at the table. I'm just looking to shoot off for a minute or two, which I think I'm allowed to do no matter what color my chat is. I assure you that your EV in the game is going to be + no matter how long I sit at the table.

I conciede that just leaving isn't the nicest thing to do. Sorry bout that. I figured that the breach of ettiquete would be dulled by the fact that I'm dead money in the game. You know, don't insult the fish and all that.

Aaron,

I am not trying to whine about this I dont really care about losing money or whatever. I appreciate you responding. I hold you to a higher standard than the run of the mill player at FTP because that is the site where I came up and always had a great deal of respect for anyone in red. If you had stuff to do thats fine, I have stuff to do to. Please just try to make it not so encouraging to those observers watching that hitting and running is the way to go cause it is such a problem on FTP.

I would rather be a flight attendant or a nurse then a short stack artist.

They make a mockery of themselves and they ruin the game for others. These people have no class, character or integrity at all.

Default Why not shortstack?

Why shouldnt you shortstack?

A lot of people feel that its easier to play a shortstack. I know that Barry Greenstein argues that you have a mathematical edge when you are playing a shortstack. When you see him on Stars he always buys in shortstacked, even though he probably has an edge on most of the players there.

Personally I sometimes buy in shortstacked because a lot of players automatically label you as a donkey. If it puts good players like Taylor or CTS on tilt that is also an incentive.

It seems that whenever I see arguments against shortstacking its usually about the size of your balls or how much more respect you will get in BBV.

I play poker to make money. I know I'm not as good as most of the players in HSNL and I'm not willing to give up more of an edge by playing deep stacked. While a lot of people on this forum are amazing players, alot of you seem to suffer from ego/tilt issues. Thats where the shortstackers hurt you the most.

the only reason ppl play shortstacked is cuz they suck at playin deepstacked......get some practice by playin 5/10 full instead of 25/50 with 20 bbs
