Default Re: Venetian: An Updated Review PALeeze

vegas bob has a very accurate picture of the Venetian Poker room....great space and no action.

This was predicted when their freeroll was stopped and the comp structure was changed.

I was there a few weeks ago and there were 8 games on a Wednesday at 9pm.

I think the Venetian is making the same type of mistake many other new rooms have made......they lure the high-limit players with huge perks. This only does two things:

1) Ensures the room cannot be profitable....which the Venetian room is not, and I know that for a fact.

2) Attracts the player you do not want.

V rarely gets the 15/30 or 40/80.....and who needs them anyway. You get less rake and give the ranch away to get the game.

The problem for the venetian is that they have replaced it with mixed games, which drop nothing!!!!!

There are big issues at V, but this was predicted.

I would say that, as of today, by volume only, the poker rankings are as follows:

1) Bellagio
2) Wynn
3) Red Rock
4) MGM
5) Green Valley

Mirage, Venetian and Caesars are right behind.

Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch are emerging as real players in the poker business....as predicted.

There's some desire by the V in doing better. I just replied to an email in which I expressed an interest in playing in a 5/5 pot limit game with a $200 min buyin.

Anyone else interested?

Good info tourney guy--I'm headed out there this weekend for 1-2 & 2-5NL. Is your list based on # of games available? Quality of games? I'm assuming on Sat it really shouldn't be an issue no matter where you play.
