When I tried cashing out somewhere in the ballpark
of $4k at bellagio, the clerk told me I had to
write down my SS#....I asked him what was the max I
could cash out w/out doing this...He said he wasnt
allowed by law to tell me...As I tipped him, I pulled
back a few K and he said, "Thats good".

[/ QUOTE ]

They ask for your SS# and name, but you do not have to give it to them. You can simply refuse or just write down Joe Blow. They do not verify this info. they just keep it on record.

you can't get caught doing it in a casino because they do not have SAR (suspicious activity reports) to send to the IRS outlining your structured transactions

[/ QUOTE ]

As someone posted, they do have SARs. They also must fill out Multiple Transaction Logs. Trust me, they follow all transaction very closely.

The first part of that is true. The second is false. Casinos have an obligation to get as much information about its customers as they possibly can. If you do not provide your name or ID, the casino will fill out a Missing Customer Information Log with all the information it does have.

And if the casino does fill out a SARC or MTL, it is required to file it.
