Definitely don't live in San Jose. Palo Alto is much more up your alley. Really, you probably want to live in the Marina in SF. But that's impractical for you and I would definitely not recommend it for commute reasons. So, live in PA, you'll like it 8 million times better than San Hoser. And it's also closer to SF for when you want ot hang out there.

thanks for the advice. palo alto seems like the best compromise. i'm VERY grateful, since i was pretty much going to roll the dice and get a place in downtown san jose.

the social-economic stigmas some people place on others is nothing new but still disconcerting. the people you insult may not be economically viable currently but are making an attempt.
